    The second annual Olathe Charities 5K will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, on trails around the College Boulevard Activity Center. This unique run benefits participating charities who register to become a charity of choice. Selected organizations receive $15 per runner, or $20 per four-person team who designate that charity at registration.

    The Olathe Miracle League is accepting volunteer applications for the 2016 spring season, which begins Saturday, April 2. Miracle League volunteers, called buddies, help provide kids of all abilities the opportunity to play baseball in a safe and fun environment. Register to become a buddy.

    Spring is a busy time on the farm, signaling the return of 1860s living history activities each weekend. The historic Mahaffie house will be open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

    Olathe’s Indian Creek Branch Library (12990 S. Black Bob Rd.) is temporarily closed due to a water line break that occurred on March 3.  Patrons are asked to use the library’s downtown location (201 E. Park St.) until clean-up and repairs are complete. A temporary materials return is located near the northeast corner of the Indian Creek Library parking lot.  Materials can be returned to other drop off locations in the city.
