Assistant City Manager

Susan began working for the City of Olathe in May 1989, and was promoted to Assistant City Manager in 1994. Susan served as acting City Manager from November 1997 - January 1999. She currently is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Police, Fire, Parks & Recreation, and Information Technology Services Departments.

Susan earned a Bachelor's Degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master of Public Administration Degree from the Edwin O. Stene Program at the University of Kansas. She is a 1994 Leadership Olathe graduate and recipient of the 1998 Community Leadership Award. Susan also received a distinguished Community Service Award from the Olathe Area Chamber of Commerce in 1999. In 2004, Susan was recognized with the Character Award for City Government. Susan served as President of the Olathe Santa Fe Trail Rotary Club from 2003-2004 and is an active member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the Northeast Kansas Administrators organization. Susan was named to the distinguished Ingrams Magazine "Forty Under 40" Class of 2004.  In September 2006, Susan was awarded the Assistant Excellence in Leadership Award by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) in honor of Buford Watson, Jr.

She is married to Fred Sherman and has two children.
