What is the retail business registration program?
The retail registration program was implemented in 2004 to ensure the proper accounting of sales taxes being collected by Olathe retail businesses. In particular, it ensures retail sales taxes collected in Olathe are returned to the City.
What will it cost my business?
There is no cost for the registration. However, penalties may be assessed upon businesses that do not register by the deadline.
Do all businesses need to register?
No. Only businesses located in Olathe and collecting sales tax are required to register.
What do I do to register?
Complete the Retail Registration form.
Will I have to register each year?
No. Registration is one time only. You will only be asked to re-register if the nature or ownership of a businesses changes. New businesses have 30 days from their first business day to register with the City.
