Explorer Post 2884

Founded in 1991, Explorer Post 2884 - a coed program affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America - is a career development initiative that provides youth, age 14-20, the opportunity and experience to prepare themselves for an emergency services career. Explorers help the fire An Olathe firefighter wears their firefighting protective equipmentdepartment in community service and on fire and medical scenes. It also gives youth a better understanding of the fire service and its career opportunities. 

Explorers complete a six-month training program to learn about us and to prepare themselves for a career in the fire service. Explorers attend meetings every two weeks, which provides them with instruction in areas such as fire safety, emergency operations and procedures, fire tactics, emergency medical services and public education. The Explorer advisors are Olathe firefighters who help the Explorers develop the skills they need to become a firefighter.
