




Historic Site Guides
Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm Historic Site
Will lead guided tours and offer hands-on, living history activities to school children and the public at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site, for daily programming and special events. Assist with preparation, planning, set-up, and take-down, of program materials for daily activities and special events. May assist in feeding and maintaining livestock. Handle admissions/reception and gift shop duties as needed. Successful applicants will be dependable, out-going, have top customer service skills. Experience working with adults or children in educational, public speaking, or public programming situations required. Must be willing to dress in period clothing (provided) and wear it in the manner prescribed. Knowledge of 19th century life skills (examples: woodworking, caring for and handling draft animals and small livestock, wood-stove cooking, blacksmithing, sewing and needlework, farming/gardening) a definite plus; as is knowledge of state and local history, western trails history, or the Civil War (particularly of the KS/MO border region). Site Guides are particularly needed to work a very flexible schedule weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for Fall season education programs. No minimum of hours is guaranteed.
