Pro Se Plea Docket

To request that your traffic ticket be amended from a moving violation to a non-moving violation, you may choose to have your ticket continued to a pro se plea docket.

In general, defendants request an amendment to prevent a conviction for the violation from being entered on their driving records by the Kansas Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle Division.

  • This docket allows you the opportunity to meet directly with a prosecutor to request an amendment.
  • You do not have to be represented by an attorney, although the prosecutors are prohibited from giving you legal advice.
  • An appointment on the pro se plea docket does not guarantee that your charge(s) will be amended.
  • Once you are scheduled on a pro se plea docket, the prosecutors will review your driving record and history of prior amendments.
  • If you are not eligible for an amendment, you will be advised of that fact and given the opportunity to select another alternative for disposition of your ticket.
  • In most instances, the cost of an amendment is double the fine amount shown on your ticket.
  •  If you have accident-related charges, you must provide proof the damages have been paid prior to the amendment.
  • Acceptable forms of payment are by cash, Master Card or Visa.
    • Your name must be on the credit/debit card presented for payment.
    • No personal checks will be accepted.
    • Amendments must be paid for on the date and time you are scheduled for the pro se plea docket.
    • There is no “time-to-pay” option for amendments.
