Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit Reception June 17

 

Once again creative and distinctive sculptures will enliven downtown Olathe as the 2008 Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit gets underway. The City of Olathe's ongoing vision is to emphasize public art and to provide opportunities for citizens to enjoy art in public places.

Located in the Original Town Core Area, the 2008 Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit features seven displays. The Olathe Public Art & Culture Commission will hold a public event celebrating this exhibit from 6 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 17 at Olathe City Hall, 100 E. Santa Fe. The event is open to the public.

This year's exhibits include:

  • Untitled Metal Ball; by Andy Kincaid, Appleton, WI; located inside City Hall, 100 E. Santa Fe
  • Cradle Fracture; by Steve Elliott, Wayne, NE; located at 100 E. Santa Fe
  • Splitting Spheres; by Stephen Janesko, Tonganoxie, KS; located at the southeast corner of Santa Fe and Water
  • View; by Michael Warrick, Little Rock, AR; located at the Kansas Deaf Cultural Center, 455 E. Park
  • Zig Zag; by Stephen Janesko, Tonganoxie, KS; located at the northeast corner of Santa Fe and Kansas
  • Forseedable Future; by Stephen Janesko, Tonganoxie, KS; located at the northwest corner of Santa Fe and Pine
  • HERmitage (2); by Susana Jones, Lanagan, MO; located at the northeast corner of Chestnut & Poplar
