Olathe, (Kan)-Beginning July 7th, 127th Street will be closed between Renee and Gallery Streets (just west of Pflumm) for a construction project. The closure is expected to last about ten days. Detours are being provided for area residents to access adjacent neighborhoods. Other drivers using 127th Street are being asked to use 135th Street or 119th Street during construction.
The project entails constructing the City's new Eastbrooke Trail that will run about 1.5 miles. It begins near California Trail Junior High School and connects with the Indian Creek Trail north of 127th Street.
The Eastbrooke Trail is part of the City's Trail and Greenway Project and is being funding through the City's Park Sales (20%) and Kansas Department of Transportation Enhancement Funds (80%).
Each year, tens of thousands of residents enjoy the City's trail system, and trails have consistently rated as a high priority in citizen surveys. With the addition of the Eastbrooke Trail, the City will have nearly thirty two miles of public trails.
