Olathe Public Library Celebrating 100 Years in 2009

On August 2, 1909, the City of Olathe created Johnson County’s first public library.  Originally housed in City Hall, the Olathe Public Library now includes the main library downtown as well as the Indian Creek Branch on Black Bob Road.  In 2008 alone, the locations experienced 1,369,982 patron visits who checked out 632,066 items. The Olathe Public Library will be hosting a number of special events this year during its Centennial Celebration.  This Summer, the Library’s birthday will be celebrated at open houses, July 31 at the main library and August 7 at the Indian Creek Branch.
