An Independence Day celebration will take place at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site on July 5 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. All festivities will take place at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm at 1200 Kansas City Road, Olathe, KS. Please enter through the new Heritage Center at Mahaffie, enjoy the exhibits and then walk to the grounds to enjoy the celebration.
Olathe, (Kan)-Beginning July 7th, 127th Street will be closed between Renee and Gallery Streets (just west of Pflumm) for a construction project. The closure is expected to last about ten days. Detours are being provided for area residents to access adjacent neighborhoods. Other drivers using 127th Street are being asked to use 135th Street or 119th Street during construction.

In November 2007 the Olathe City Council adopted a revised annexation policy for the City of Olathe. This policy recommends that the City initiate the annexation of enclaves of unincorporated property that exist within the City's boundaries. Sometimes referred to as "islands," an enclave is an area of unincorporated property that is surrounded, or largely surrounded, by the City of Olathe. Often these enclaves are already benefiting from City of Olathe services even though they are a part of the County and not the City.
Once again creative and distinctive sculptures will enliven downtown Olathe as the 2008 Downtown Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit gets underway. The City of Olathe's ongoing vision is to emphasize public art and to provide opportunities for citizens to enjoy art in public places.

Ridgeview Rd. from Loula to Sheridan is closed to through traffic for utility work related to the project to widen Ridgeview Rd. Access is available for local neighborhood traffic only. Detours are provided for through traffic. This closure is expected to last 3-4 weeks.
Olathe residents are encouraged to provide comments about the City's 2009 operating budget at the Tuesday, June 17 City Council meeting at 7 p.m. at Olathe City Hall, 100 E. Santa Fe. Public input is a critical part of the budget process.
The City of Olathe is currently in the process of updating its Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan outlines the City's official goals, policies, and guidelines to direct the growth and development of the community. The Comprehensive Plan describes the vision and goals of the community and provides a framework for future zoning, development and policy decisions.
Residents can now purchase fresh produce, flowers, herbs and baked goods at Olathe's Farmers' Market. The Farmers' Market will operate from 7 a.m. until sold out on Saturdays through October 11 and at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays through September 24. The market is located at the corner of Poplar and Kansas Ave. - just one block north of Santa Fe.
