The 19th class of the Olathe Citizens Police Academy will be held in the Fall of 2013. The nine-week academy consists of classroom time, hands on displays, and a ride along with an Olathe police officer. Citizens have the opportunity to interact with department personnel holding various assignments including: Patrol, Investigations, Tactical Support Unit, Canine Unit, Traffic Unit and many other areas.
This program is not an accredited certification course to become a sworn police officer.
Applicant Requirements:
Be at least 18 years old
Have never been convicted of a felony crime
Be a resident, or own or manage a business in Olathe
Make a solid time commitment to attend the Academy

Thursdays 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The class size is limited to 30 participants. All intererested persons must complete an application and give permission for the Olathe Police Department to run a criminal history check.
The Citizens Police Academy is sponsored by the Olathe Police Department and the Citizens Police Advisory Council (CPAC).
