Citizens Police Academy

 

 

The Olathe Citizens Police Academy will begin on Thursday, September 10th, 2015 and will meet every Thursday night for the next nine weeks.  Each meeting will be held on Thursday night from 6:30 p.m. till 10:00 p.m.

This program is not an accredited certification course to become a sworn police officer.
 

Applicants must:
Be at least 18 years old
Have never been convicted of a felony crime
Be a resident in Olathe or Own/Manage a business in Olathe
Make a commitment to attend the Academy
Submit to a background check for criminal history

 

The nine-week fast-paced academy includes:

  • Classroom time

  • Hands on displays

  • Ride along with a police officer

Citizens will interact with department personnel in numerous police assignments including:

  • Patrol

  • Investigations

  • Tactical Support Unit

  • Canine Unit

  • Traffic Unit
