All applications (individual and group) will be kept on file for 1 year. Anyone wishing to re-submit an application will not need to do so within that 1 year time frame.

Some departments within the City of Olathe will require that you fill out additional documentation.

Police Department - (NO CURRENT POSITIONS OPEN) You must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer for the Olathe Police Department.
The Olathe Police Department has a supplemental application that will need to be filled out in addition to the application on this page. Municipal Services (water/sewer, trash, recycling, household hazardous waste)

  • HHW volunteers: Assist with the City's Household Hazardous Waste collection events. Activities include unloading residents' vehicles and re-blending latex paint for the paint giveaway program.

Public Works (storm water, streets, traffic)

  • Adopt-a-Street: This program helps build a civic pride by beautifying Olathe city streets, increasing safety and decreasing litter and other pollutants through trash removal.
  • Adopt-a-Stream: This program is very similar to the Adopt-a-Street program except that sections of Olathe streams are adopted instead of streets. To learn more about either program, click on the link for that program, then return here to start the application process.
