e-Town Hall Open for Questions!
The City Manager presented the proposed 2013 General Fund Budget and 2013-2017 Capital Improvement Plan on June 19. The Council presentation and documents are posted on the Budget Planning website.
Citizens have an opportunity to participate in the 2013 budget process as part of the second Budget e-Town Hall event. The event utilizes various forms of electronic communications and social media outreach including web-streamed video, a web forum, Facebook, Twitter (#OlatheBudget) and live television broadcast. The City Council will respond to questions live during the e-Town Hall broadcast/webcast on the Olathe Government Network (Comcast Channel 7 and AT&T Channel 99) on Tuesday, July 10 at 6:00 p.m.
Student Forum Results Posted
On May 8, approximately 45 students, representing Olathe’s middle schools, high schools, and MidAmerica Nazarene University, participated in facilitated focus groups to provide feedback to the City Council as part of the 2013 budget development process. The focus group questions were derived from the Community Focus Areas of the City’s Balanced Scorecard. Responses from the focus groups were transcribed and sorted into thematic groupings for each question and can be found on the Budget Planning website.
Capital Improvement Project Update

In addition to the streetscape project, the Public Works Department continues work on many street projects, including mill and overlay on 119th Street, Mur-Len, Black Bob, and 151st Street. The City Council will hold the next budget meeting at City Hall (100 E. Santa Fe) on Tuesday, July 10, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will begin with the e-Town Hall and will be followed by a City Council budget workshop.
