Tiger Cub Scout Day/Harvest Saturday

Mahaffie will host Tiger Cub Scout Day 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 20.  Tiger Cub Scouts can earn some requirements for their Making My Family Special program as well as a special Mahaffie patch only offered during this program.  Program registration is $10 per scout, accompanying adults are admitted free. Scouts should bring a sack lunch, a water bottle and dress for the weather.  For more information and to register, www.mahaffie.org or call (913) 971-5111. Payment is due the day of the event. Also during Tiger Cub Scout Day, Mahaffie will feature Harvest activities for visitors.  Harvest activities may include sawing wood, making apple cider, and picking corn. The Harvest for Harvesters promotion is valid for Tiger Cub Scout Day/Harvest Saturday. If you bring two cans of food, you recieve $1/off admission with all collected food being donated to Harvesters.

Trick or Treat OFF the Street!

Dress in costume and enjoy fall harvest activities at Mahaffie. Trick or Treat OFF the Street will be on Saturday, October 27 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Activities may include horse drawn hay wagon rides, see what is cooking on the cookstove, visit the blacksmith and candy stations from local businesses and civic organizations. Admission is $3/person ages 3 and up and includes all activities! Please park for this event in the parking lot near the Mahaffie Home as the Heritage Center is hosting a reception that evening. No registration is required for this event.

If you are part of an organization or business that is interested in reaching many families in a two hour span, please consider hosting a Candy Station for Trick or Treat OFF the Street. We are inviting organizations and businesses who are willing to donate and hand out candy for up to 200 children. We provide one 6' table and two chairs for you and you can hand out information along with the candy. Please call (913) 971-5111 for more information. Mahaffie hosted approximately 400 visitors for the event last year and we hope to have that many attend this year. This is a great opportunity to dress in costume and distribute information. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Cemetery Tours a Success

Thank you to all who participated in our Cemetery Tours Thursday October 11, Friday, October 12 and Saturday October 13. We especially appreciate the flexibility of the visitors who adjusted their scheduled ticket times on Saturday to accommodate the fast changing weather. We look forward to hosting Cemetery Tours again the second week in October of 2013.
