Sailing and Boating Adventures on Lake Olathe

Whether your child dreams of being an explorer like Columbus, or a treasure hunting Pirate of Lake Olathe, this sailing class will teach the basics of sailing & boating in safe and exciting ways. Clifton Bencke & Dale Wycoff, sailing & boating instructors with years of experience in teaching youth & scouts instruct. Class includes how to: rig & assemble the lateen rigged sailboats; get underway; trim the sail for different angles of wind; right-of-way; capsize and right the sailboats; "Man overboard!"; and more.

Participants should wear a swimsuit and water shoes. Life jackets are provided or BYO. Students are encouraged to enroll in multiple sessions for ongoing adventures & learning. Contact Clifton Benke about alternate evening on weekend options at clifton@cdjr.org.

Kayaks & Canoe Rental on Lake Olathe- Starting Again This Spring
Ages 9 to Adult
$15/$10 for Olathe residents per person per hour
Explore and/or fish from the water on kayaks and canoes. Vessel, Paddles, and life preserves provided. Under 18 must be accompanied on the water by responsible adult. For additional information contact Clifton about alternate evening or weekend options 913-220-5177
